Cheers to 2020!

Let us wrap up 2019 with a big Red Bow……..we all survived and now let us make 2020 a year filled with good health and joy.

I would like to start my January Blog by thanking all my followers on social media, family, and friends for supporting me as I launched my coffee table book “Best Dressed Tables” in November.

My goal with Best Dressed Tables is to encourage families to make time to dine together and participate in setting a lovely table, casual or otherwise and have fun doing it.

I so enjoyed meeting so many new faces at book signings and loved hearing about your table experiences. Thank you to those who have sent photos showing me how Best Dressed Tables has inspired you to be more creative.

Here are a few photos of the launch, book signings at Pottery Barn, West Elm and Indigo, and a clip from my appearance on Global T.V. Noon Hour in December.

Christmas Table Settings: Ideas and Inspiration

With Christmas just around the corner, I thought I would share some ideas with you.

I am sure most of you have already decided on a theme for your Christmas tabletop if you are hosting this year.

Some Ideas…..if you have not yet decided.

Why not create a winter wonderland right down the centre of your table?

You can purchase the blanket of snow which I have done in the past, but… tip- lay it down and then break it up a bit or add bits to it to make it look like snow. Once you have done that purchase some snow sprinkles and add on top.

Next, start to build this up, you can add a small sleigh and fill with a Santa and gifts, or a snowman and cones…You can add some small Christmas trees here and there and look around and see what else you can find. More cones.

Are you feeling Plaid……..Everyone has a white tablecloth. Add that plaid scarf you have right down the middle and add some touches like I have in my plaid tabletop.

Chargers are affordable and come in all colours. You can add gold or red or a plaid placemat.

Glass containers are wonderful in all shapes and sizes and you can fill them with red cranberries, or coloured mini balls or mixtures of things.

You can also place a candle in a glass holder and then put snow sprinkles all around the candle.

Children love toys and if you have children in your family. Why not make it fun. If your child has a train with open cars…….you can do what I did a few weeks ago when I hosted a pre-Christmas Luncheon.

I filled it with cones, a Santa and Snowman and added some berries and candy canes and what a hit this was. I scrunched up a plaid tablecloth and put the train on this

Another idea is bring outside inside. I love bringing in my outside white lanterns and tying ribbons around the tops – so simple but this in three sizes can be lovely by the front door for instance – so simple but festive.

If you are having many people for dinner and space is a problem, use charges instead of placemats as you can get more around a table.

Remember to light up your centerpiece or tabletop with string lights or battery operated candles. Do not be afraid to mix it up you can have pillar candles, votives and candlesticks all on one table in all different sizes.

Setting beautiful tabletops is my passion, and what better way to showcase my tables than in a coffee table book.

I am excited to preview the cover of my upcoming  book, Best Dressed Tables, which will be available on Amazon and at select book and gift stores in early December in time for Holiday shopping!

Best Dressed Tables will showcase tablescapes for all occasions, seasons and celebrations along with tables I created during my  travels.
